The Amethyst Grimoire

A grimoire is a witch’s treasure to be passed down through the ages. I have always wanted to have a gorgeous grimoire of my own, the only problem was, I’m not terribly skilled in the way of visual arts, and so I did not feel confident enough to bring to life a grimoire the likes of Charmed, Sabrina, Buffy, you know what I mean. The ’90s witch craze provided so much BoS inspo, and I was so there for it. I even purchased my first bespoke BoS from a shop here in Australia. I wrote out a binding curse on the front cover and then got page fright. The paper was cycled and so, not the best for mixed video, and I had next to no skills back then.

Thankfully, the modern journal community across social media platforms has assisted me significantly in upping my journal game. And so now, I feel I have the skills needed and the glue pen required to make some paper-based magic.

And wouldn’t you know it. Just as I was feeling good enough to create a tarot journal, a beautiful creator reached out to me on Instagram. She goes by @silencecovenua

A big thank you to @silencecovenua for the gift that is this stunning, handmade grimoire that she so kindly gifted to me. As a lover of journals, paper and fountain pen, I must confess, I have yet to construct a grimoire of my very own. I guess now, I have no more excuses. What a treat!

I wanted to shine a light on this Ukrainian creator, as there are some truly powerhouse artists based in Ukraine who are actively contributing to the witchcraft community across social media platforms.

Sometimes, the spirits lead you to points of convergence in which a tool is offered for you to challenge your “I can’t do this” mindset. Well, this was especially the situation that struck me. One minute, I’m voraciously consuming journaling content while watching my fountain pen collection grow exponentially, then the sticker books I’d ordered after shopping online in the wee hours of the morning started to show up, and before long, the know-how I needed started to make itself known to me. A witch’s life can be funny like that. It’s giving, if you build it, they will come. So I built up some know-how, and wouldn’t you know it. My fair godmother from all the way over in the Ukraine extended an invitation that I could not decline. Now I have a BEAST of a Grimoire and a fair bit of know-how. Yay for me!
